“During my time at Journeys I've gained a stronger sense of self and I don't think I have ever felt more at peace with who I am and what I feel.”

We restore
Rites of Passage

Rite of Passage Journeys, established in 1968, fosters self-discovery, community belonging, and connection with the natural world. Through contemporary rite of passage experiences and education, we mentor youth, adults and elders through life transitions, initiating soulful leaders for the next generation.

Our vision is a world of vibrant, multi-generational communities in which each life stage and the transitions between them are honored, in which all people are guided to recognize and give their gifts in service to a thriving planet. We envision a world that recognizes and celebrates the unique identity of everyone

At Rite of Passage Journeys, we are committed to creating safer, more inclusive and accessible spaces for all the youth we serve. We are dedicated to a path of learning, and building trust within the LGBTQ2IA+, gender diverse, queer and trans community.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We are committed to Anti-racist practices at Rite of Passage Journeys. As a 55 year old organization we acknowledge that we have had a history of being a white led and white serving organization that is now deeply committed towards dismantling white supremist culture. We acknowledge the devastating effects of the ongoing oppression and marginalization of black and brown bodied communities in our society. We are committed to tangible and continued improvement.  We have been part of the problem; we are learning and taking actions to part of the solution.

We declare that Journeys will be a safe enough place for black, indigenous, and other folks of color (BIPOC) to work, participate and volunteer.  We are committed to move forward in our learning and growth with a key value of dismantling systemic racism. In this effort, we are dedicated to understanding the different ways that we as an organization, and as individuals, can contribute to ending the racism that persists in our inherited cultural structures, values, and systems.

“When we first ‘got him back,’ I felt immediately that he was so grounded and connected to who he is. Brandon has returned to us with a deep gratitude for his existence and life which he did not have before. I realize that I can actually hand the reins over to him and that he is indeed capable of handling the steering.”
